Anybody ever replace the 4 stainless rings that are on the steering wheel? Cant find any for a 1966. They reproduce the 66 wheel so if I could find out who makes it maybe they would sell me the paint dividers.

What does everybody else do when they repaint the steering wheel when it comes to those small stainless rings, hard to get paint behind them?

They can be removed however it's a delicate operation. Try not to open they up too far so re-assembley will be OK .Good luck.

The rings do come off. They push off from behind. I took mine off to paint my wheel. While I had them off I polished them then pushed them back on the wheel.

I too need one of these for my 1st gen, I'm missing one.
I'm not sure if they're the same for a 66?

66 Are different More like a ring and thinner It looks like someone tried to remove one and it lost its shape but I reconditioned it. I emailed Eklers and they said "No replacement for 66"

This may be a little late coming....Not sure if you've done your paint yet...But I took vasoline on a qtip and coated the rings....Then painted the steering wheel...Then after the paint dries......just wipe off the rings....It works great...
