Hey does anyone know how to remove the steering column from a 1962 Nova. I have everything loose including the large nut on the steering box but all she does is move back and fourth. Help

you have to remove the steering wheel and column from inside the car the steering shaft that the wheel hooks to is part of the gear box

So what you are saying is that I remove the steering wheel then the everything will come out except for the steering shaft. Which will come out when I remove the steering box?? Since I am going with a IFS I was going to use a cutting torch at the steering box to cut the shaft. What do you think??

I wouldnt, just take it apart the right way it will turn out better IMO

Also remove the under dash column mount (2 bolts) and the fire wall mount near floor board.

Steering shaft.

I ended up reusing my stock 66 steering shaft for the R&P. Took it apart the 'right ' way and ended up cutting the shaft off the box once the shaft/ box was removed from the car. IMHO it would have been easier to cut the shaft off first.

When installing my TCI clip, I knew I would not be reusing the steering box so I cut the shaft with a sawzall.
