Here's my problem,I removed the speedometer cable under dash to install new dash pad, after re-installing cable and driving the car{67 nova} I noticed the speedometer didnt work. I removed cable and hung it under dash then drove the car to see if the cable was good, and it was spinning as I drove. Now,is there something that can break or go wrong when installing these cables on the back of the speedometer? Is there something about this connection I should have been aware of?

There is really nothing that unhooking the cable and reconnecting it should cause it to quit working. As long as the cable end went back into the spedometer head and the cable houseing got screwed back on, it should work if it did before. I don't really have any suggestion other than taking the cable off the transmission and spinning it with an electric drill to see if it works that way. If it does then the drive gear/driven gear in the transmission tail shaft may have stripped.

The cable sometimes "floats" in the shroud and won't get engaged in the speedo or xsm. Make sure that it is engaged (it's square on both ends). Gently turn the cable by hand while pushing down on it to ensure it's engaged in the xsm. Then, insert the cable end into the speedo while trying to keep it parallel to the opening and connect /tighten the bezzel or reattatch the c - clip.Should work unless the cable is broken or the gears are stripped in the xsm or speedo.
