I was trying to help my nephew get his rally nova running. He has a rebuilt 355 with small solid cam and double hump heads. The problem is fuel sprayed out around the spark plugs. We pulled a plug and it was a tapered seat plug. Is that the correct plug? The heads look like they have a flat seat and require plugs with washers. Which is correct. We did try some plugs with washers but the fuel still came out of some cylinders but not as many.
We lost spark right after it fired and traced it down to a faulty MSD distributor. The box and coil are good.
So we wasted the afternoon on that.

What's going on with this plug issue?
