Trying to nail down the ID on a small block that is in a 72 C10 a friend of mine is working on. I'm pretty clear that it was a counter engine or a replacement block at some point but the engine ID number/code was just a little bit unusual so I'm asking out of curiosity to more or less validate what I suspect to be the case regarding this block.

Casting # - 3970010 - This is a very common number.

Engine ID# - MB12800 - According to NastyZ28 the 12800 is a counter engine code. So I was curious about the "MB" as this is usually only a single letter that indicates the plant of Mfg. I'll assume the "M" will refer to Mexico.. What's the "B"..?

Thanks in advance..
