Any advice on where to start with this? I can do a lot but this is structural and probably out of my league. I would like to make sure this is done 100% correctly. It is the rear support on my 74.Thanks In advance . ( sry if I posted under the wrong place I will remove post if so)

rust never sleeps

Often times the true extent of rust isn't revealed until media blasting has been performed. If you have the means for some spot blasting I'd start there. That will tell you how bad the problem is. If the only issue is where you showed in the picture then I'd cut out the area a bit larger than the rusted spots, form a new piece, then weld it back into place. Good luck!

Yes, I have the means of doing that. I guess I was not sure if safety wise it would be alright to just cut out and reweld in or if I needed to search for a whole new peice.
Thanks for the response.

first i would strip everything down to the metal ( just to see at how extensive the damage is ) than work from there

besides that, is cutting and replacing it w pre bent metal from the looks of it

but its too early to say anyway without stripping in down to the metal
