Does the bar that is behind the front seat (where the seat belts usually bolt to) have to be straight across from one side of the hoop to the other? Or can it extend back and be bent before going across to the other side?

It can be bent. I put mine in years ago and put it just a little bit to far forward, well many pounds later, I need to cut my bar out and move it back also.

1968 we did not have seatbelt laws in Sweden.If the manufactorer had it..they did..or you could option for it.
Mine is put in there 1977..as far as i know.
