I'm cleaning up my glass and chrome before installation. I don't know what this piece is called, but it has some rust. I couldn't really tell if it was just surface rust or not.

The other window is fine, I'm not building a show car and I can't sink much more money in it right now. How should I proceed?

I've got some naval jelly I plan to use on the bumper brackets, but I'm not sure about using it on thin metal or near glass/rubber. Also I think you're supposed to paint anything you use naval jelly on and I don't know if it will hurt to paint these.

Thoughts or input?

Thanks!

i wouldn't leave the light rust. maybe hit it with a fine wheel wheel, then clean the surface an bush a couple coats of rust-oleum.

Update. I've been very happy with the look of the rust converter.
