I'm doing some front end work to the nova including the idler arm conversion and most of taking the front end apart has gone smoothly but I can't get the old idler arm bushings out:(. Iv'e tried everything. beating on them with the idler am in a vice and then I rented a tool thats for removing control arm bushings from the auto parts store, that didn't really work, I got the inner part of 1 but the sleeve is still in there. I know I probably should use a press but since I don't have one is there any other way to get them out?

I've heated 'em with a torch and they've always come free...
(I love the smell of burning rubber....)

If you have no torch., the above mentioned is a much better method....

Best to Anti-Seize the new ones......

I took it to the machine shop. The guy said it would be about $30.00 and it would be done tomorrow

The machine shop got it out! Installing the bearing kit is 10 times easier than knocking out the old bushings. LOL

Probably a good call taking it in. I wrestled with mine for about 2 hrs. Burned it up good with a torch beat on it for a while, finally got it out :D
