Never seen 'em in person so my post is hearsay but I've heard that they are not as good a quality as OEM. Apparently the metal is thinner and the chrome job ain't all that great!

Again, hearsay....maybe someone that has them will chime in.

John
I have a repo rear bumper on my car and the fit and finish is great. I also bought new brackets for it because I didn't have any and couldn't find and that were not all rusted out.
bumpers

I used bumper boyz (IN CA) picked them up at the Auburn IN swap i see your in IN call them i paid about $220 each ...with my cores as a exchange for what you paid its perfect make sure you pull them out of wrapping NO MATTER WHAT ....

I had re-pops not a fan they were just OK not bad but didn't have the chrome pop.
I was considering fiberglass bumpers, painted to match. I have a 66 and both original bumpers have been hit so bent in places, not sure if they can be straightened.

Have the originals rechromed:yes:I got repop ones for around $175 each(for my 67)they looked ok....They are way thinner metal and have since started to rust on the inside.I had the bumpers on my 65ss rechromed and they look incredible...whole different ball game....id rechrome them!!

There are a few different manufacturers on the repop bumpers. Fit and finish vary between them. That being said, I like using OE parts whenever I can.
I LEARNED LONG AGO TO NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH REPOP BUMPERS, I RECHROME AND STRAIGHTEN THEM BY ANY MEANS. EVEN IF THEY ARE BENT OR BEAT UP!
Its ALL about money. IMO the best bumper to be had is an original GM bumper that is worked over by a reputable company. Read MONEY.

The next best method is go with a known company. Goodmark is one. But... Again, dont expect a 400 dollar bumper (re-worked your bumper) for 200 bucks. Not gonna happen.

But if you want a set of decent bumpers for under 400 bucks they are pretty darn nice. They are a lil thinner, but not much. I measured the thickness with my original 62 bumpers. The chrome is really nice but I did find one spot that was over worked (grinder) and not filled. You wont see it, but I did, only after washing the car and getting really close. Didnt see it when I was installing the bumpers. And they were an exact fit. No messing around. So that is a plus.

But here in So Cal you are gonna pay 350+ for each OEM bumper re-chrome. Thats if there is no physical damage and they dont have to weld on it much.

For me it was the goodmark (Tamraz) bumpers at 175 each. Very nice bumpers... JR

Sorry it took so long, I got the rear bumper from restoration world. Everything that I have bought from them has fit very well, except for the hood to cowl seal. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask.

I wonder what would happen if a supplier took the thinnest cheapest steel bumpers and put a top quality chrome job on them and advertised them as extra light racing bumpers. I'm bettin they would not only sell like crazy but the markup would be insane.:bored:
Ogden chrome does a nice job on rechrome and priced affordably. Its worth the little extra on a nice car.
