I just bought a used power steering setup and think it might be smart to rebuild the ram before installing everything. How easy is this to do, or do I send it to a shop, or just go on ebay and spend an additional 200$ to get a rebuilt one? Any suggestions are welcomed with open arms. I have not tested the unit yet, and it may be perfectly functional, I'm just trying to be safe.

That sounds NOT FUN! Talked to the guy I bought it from, he said it doesn't leak. Hopefully sitting around didn't change anything. If all goes well I got an entire power steering setup for less than $250. I'll clean it up and paint it and install it when I put my big brakes on.
