Recently broke a rear u-joint. replaced the part and had alot of vibration and rearend noise. Had the driveshaft balanced and still have the noise and gear noise from the rearend. What next? Have the rearend rebuilt? It's a 10 bolt posi with 373 gears. Anyone now of a good shop in Central IL?

Wouldn't hurt to just pull the rear cover to see if you chipped a tooth or something.

also check the cross shafts, they sometimes wear.

Sounds like a good start. Where is the noise happening. Like at what speed all speed in turns straight ...The tranny sometimes can get damaged after a hard fling of rpm ... tail shaft tranny bushing warn or bent too. Just more stuff to worry you. Jim

I had my 10 bolt rebuilt and found that I had a vibration above 50 mph. Had the driveshaft balanced, replaced the U joints, and couldn't figure it out. It turned out that the yoke they put on in the rebuild was bad.
