yeah, it looks like they call out the 5/16 tape. after setting the glass follow up with the caulk to back fill. make sure all area is clean and try to keep a straight line with the tape so you wont see it after trim is installed.
Your caulking gun may not get the material where you need it so then use a cheap plastic putty knife to push it in under the glass up to the tape. I have done some windows and not had any issues with leaking using this process. However im not a pro at all just been lucky helping a few buddy's out in the past.
The link you provided called out the 5/16 tape and that sound right but i dont know for sure. You can lay the glass on the tape before you push it in and and then sample test a peice of trim. you should know then. GOOD LUCK
