I just finished installing 4.11's , eaton posi in a 8.5 rear. I went to test drive and it whines when i'm on the gas. But when I let off the whining stops. I set the back lash to .008 " (spec .008 - .0012), gear tooth pattern looked good. I dont think it is a bearing, because it isn't constantly whining, only while slightly accelerating.

any help would be apperciated.

I don't know alot about this type of install but when I was at my buddies shop doing his Monte gears he had to cycle them, what I mean is drive the car for X amount of time and stop let them cool and repeat the process to seat the gears.Maybe that will help.

What brand gears are they? Richmonds have a tendancy to have gear noise. Also did you break-in the gears before getting on it hard? If you go right out and jump on it you could score the gears and then they will always be noisy.
