Hey Guys
Just seeing what other gen 3 owners or any other gens for that matter, if you are running a rear tire size 255/60/15 or bigger
What are you using to raise the rear end up?
Air shocks, extended shackles, extra leafs, etc
Any feedback would be appreciated
I replaced my rear leafs had them built to stock height but running a 255/60/15 & using extended shackles, don’t care for the look
Thx Brian

I run 255/50/16 rear tires on my 74 Nova and did not raise the rear (stock width rear end on stock multi-leaf springs + gas charged rear shocks). It's best to have wheels with the correct back spacing. I use an 8" wide wheel with 5.25" back spacing. The rear tires fit completely inside the wheel wells with no rubbing.

I run 255/60-15 on the rear on a 15x8 wheel with 5" backspacing. My rear end is lowered 1.5" with Hotchkis springs. Fits just fine.

On my 72 it was my intention to end up with the car sitting about 2” higher than stock all around, with a slight rake. Before I started a complete rebuild that’s about how it was. Now though, with a cast iron big block up front, and new rear springs that advertised a 2.5” lift, the car sits at or near factory height. My rear tires are 26x10xR15 on 15x8 Cragars with a 5.25” backset and are perfectly centred in the fenders. Fronts are 26x6xR15 on a 6” rim. Aside from taking the car in to my local spring shop to lift it up all around, my other option is to upsize to 28” tires all around. Depending how much fun I have with the added hp and ridiculous torque of the 454, new rears may be in my not too distant future anyways!
I don’t have a picture of the car handy to post, I’ll add one later

Sorry about the double picture. I’ve hardly been on the site since the change! Just takes getting used to I guess.

My rear is lowered 1” on blocks. Tires are 275/60r15s on 15x8 with 5.5bs. Fenders are rolled. Rear suspension is set up stiff and the lift bars minimize travel (it would rub if they weren’t there). They’ll rub if the kids are piled in the car and I’m not careful.. But all and all I really like how it looks.
