well iran the car today with my new 406 glide combo first pass was a 11.51 at 115 next was a 11.31 at 115,then i got yelled at because my belts were out dated.so no more full runs.the motor combo is as follows 400 .030 over 11.5 comp scat 5.7 rods stock crank spayed caps, cam dynamics solid roller 640 lift 264-274 dur 106 centerline ported 292 turbo heads and a victor junior with a 950 carb powerlide with 4500 converter and 4.11 gears.fenderwall headers with full 3in exhaust.there some more in this combo with somr tuning.i am going to 29 in tires from 28's to reduce trap rpm's.this motor was speced out in 1984 ecept for the rods,it sat unassembled in the machine shop till now.not bad for 25 year old technology .i bought it for 2300 i feel that was a good deal.i will keep you guys updated on any progress:yes:

wat rearend r u runnin and wat have u done 2 the cars suspension? im slowly buldin my 63 and i want 2 run the same ime u r running, can u give me any tips??

60ft times were 1.77 for the first run and 1.60 for the 2nd i have a 9inch out of a lincoln versailles with 4.10's and a minispool.the suspension is stock monoleafs with slapper bars and 50/50 shocks in the rear and 90/10 in front.i have a set of southsidemachine bars i am going to try once i have the car tuned in.i will work on some pics.the car is pretty cool,it is an old drag car from the 70's i put on the street,radiused wheelwells,fenderwell headers,metalflake steering wheel,flatblack paint,redtinted windows,aluminum slots and it even has the tow bar brackets on the front yet.the track i run at is numidia dragway in pa.

weird i trap at 6500 and run 112 but the et isnt any where near yours 12.10 @ 115 is the best i have so far im running a 63 nova heidts front clip / heidts 4 link moser 9'' with 3.73s th350 with a 3000 stall converter. 40 over 350 with gmpp crank / scat h beam rods / je/srp forged pistons / 11.1 compression ported edelbrock perfrmr rpm heads /rpm air gap/ speed demon 750 mech sec carb / msd probillet & msd 6al box/ the cam is a crane hyd roller 296/304 advertised duration 539/558 lift good for 2800 to 6800 im also using 1.6 magnum roller rockers. timing set at 36 total @ 3000 rpms. the best 60 ft ive gotton was a 1.72 i need to put 90/10s up front i think it might help im running stock shocks up front right now. ive never really played with the motor. ive been trying to get the car to hook but i think i may have some left in it to improve. i maybe going to a 4500 converter and 4.11s to 4.40 gears dont no yet

u r going to a 45000 stall and 2 4.40 gears???? hell ya that should get u in the 11s special with the 90/10 rancho shocks on the caltracs website

I have not been on a track in over 35 years so forgive my stupid question. What belts were they talking about??

the seatbelts or in my case the safety harness.i think they can't be more than 2 years old accoring to the tag on them,mine are from 1993.i guess thats the last time this car went fast.

no if your running a roll bar/cage you have to install saftey harnesess/ 5 way restraint system they have to be recerted every 3 years by sfi standards now say you install a roll bar/cage and use your lap belts then your scott free but you better be able to sslow the car down to an 11.55 or so cause if you run an 11.49 or quicker you will have to install roll bar /cage and saftey harnesess/ 5 way safety restraint system :yes:

Thanks, so I guess when I take my Nova to the track I better keep it above 11.50:D I want to take it to the track this summer just to see how it does..

yeah. i've been kicked off the track for going too fast a couple times. kind of an honor but kind of a pain. now i'm good with a cage and won't have to worry about going too fast for a long time

You are spinning 6,500 rpm at 115 mph with 3.73 gears!!!!??????
I only spin about 5,500 at 115 mph.
If you are really spinning 6,500 you may want to check out your converter.
Swapping for a more efficient one could have a major impact on your ET and MPH.
Just a thought.
maybe someone else can provide additional comparison data.
