Ok let me start by saying I've been working on cars for a long time, I grew up on Chevy's of the 60's when they weren't very old

yeah I know

So I'm some kind of special idiot, I can't figure out how to remove the radio antenna

I remove the nut, I assume the antenna should maybe drop a little and the little feet rotate so I can remove the antenna straight up

no deal, the antenna won't drop enough, won't even go down 1/8 of an inch!

So is it me or is there something inside I can't see or is maybe something in the way that shouldn't be there?

This is a non-telescoping antenna, won't get shorter than about 20 inches or so

All help is appreciated

all sarcasm will be accepted and graded

thanks

Do I have to remove the heater to get the kick panel out? It doesn't seem to want to squeeze out that way.

On a '65 you will indeed need to at least "move" the heater accordingly in order to remove the plastic passenger kick panel/vent assembly.......
