When you guys are out running your cars hard what are your shift points. What RPM. I know all cars are not the same and I am talking SBC. I shift my 64 Nova at 6500. It a 4 speed car with a 3.36 gear. I have never reached that RPM in forth gear. its a 355 SBC. Does this seem high to you.

7500 rpm with a BB. Your build, valve train and dyno information will predict your shift points should be. Our SB in our oval track race car is kept 6200 rpm.

Too many variables go into an aftermarket build to say that any one shift point would be correct for all engines of a given family. Several different things will determine best shift points for a specific setup.

If you are talking about stock engines with a known powerband, then it would be different.

Lets just say with press in head studs a bit too high, with screw in studs and a good valve train especially solid lifter cam not to high. All depends on the build quality.:yes:

My 355 gets shifted at 6800-7000 with a .540 soild flat tappet cam. Best et and mph were with it shifting at 6800!:yes:
