Question about Clutch Z-bar boss on 6-cyl blocks:
The partial page here is from Santucci’s excellent book.
The 62-67 Nova 194-230cid uses the Clutch Z-Bar hole as indicated.
The 292 truck blocks do not have this hole or the rear (67-75 car) hole.
All the 292 blocks have is the pair of 3/8” upper holes as shown.

Is there a bracket to enable use of the stock 62-67 3-speed clutch Z-bar with the upper 292 truck block holes?

In “theory” the V/8 adapter should work with both blocks. One would involve drilling the adapter bracket and or for the other drill and tap the block. EG. the adapter bracket could be a shorter L shape instead of the T shape.

I have never seen a bracket for this conversion in a Nova as it is not a common engine conversion. Have only seen a 292 in a Nova once that I can recall.

The V8 conversion bracket is angled quite a bit inwards, so the arm that comes off of it would need to be heavily modified if not discarded for something custom (the side of the L6 block being "flat"). At that point you would just be making your own bracket.

Is the Chevy II clutch boss present on the 292? I would drill it out and tap it for the ball stud. Probably way easier than futzing around with a bracket system.

Nope. No boss at all, just the 2 upper 3/8 truck bosses

Goes right into the early Nova, just a mod to the pass side motor mount. With a powerglide 3.08, the 292-1bbl is faster in the 1/8 mile than the 250-4bbl.

Even home-made "trips" fit the 292 nova, though it helps to have a front carb shorter than the stock BV & skimp on the air filter element

engine .

Here is a 292 (1 ton truck motor) . . showing the truck " clutch linkage = for that version , bolted too that
location" .

This motor is from a 74 Chev 1 ton flat-bed . It did run = swap out for a sbc .

............ and , he is a current member . I have thought about installing my 292 motor (but , I'm a 3rd gen car).
My current 250ci runs too good for me too mess around with (just now, anyway) .

Also , member : AJ Perks ........ several years back ............ had his 63 Nova SS car = using a 292 motor
and a T 5 5speed . A very good looking car :
