I want to replace my stock cluster with basically a plate that that i can mount my own cluster of assorted auto meter cobalt gauges.. but i DO NOT want it to look like it was just thrown in.. i want it to look professional.. I know that I've seen a lot of people that do this. My question is how much of a pain in the *** is this?? and what all do i need to do it right and make it look good? THANKS GUYS!!

I guess it's really a matter of you planning out where the gauges are going to go and if you have room to put them there. After that it's pretty cut and dry.

Have you looked at someone like Covans? They make dash inserts for just what you want to do although I'm not sure if they do it for your year.

This is the Boese Eng billet insert that I had in my 63 with Autometers. Mounts into a stock bezel. Very happy with the fit and quality.
