I picked up a powerglide from a flea market and it has the original shift bracket on there. it's got a straight metal piece and a curved metal piece right behind it. it's not held on by a nut or a clip. anybody know how the hell do i get this thing off?

you will have to remove the pan and flip it upside down click to a neutral position and loosen two 3/16 (I think can't remember) hex bolts on clamps that are one the spline once both are loose you can pull it out catch the o-ring and replace it.
Best to see a shop manual

T handle Hex wrenched work best for that tight area and you have had to shift around to view cap hex screw.
