I'm trying to add the power steering pump to my 250 inline 6. The engine is a 74, I picked up a pump and brackets but the pulley on the pump is too far forward for my pulleys..

Is there a way of changing to a different pump pulley, or so I need something different?

Pulley selection and alignment can be confusing since they vary. It looks like you have a PS Pulley with minimal offset distance (0.92") from the front of the pulley to the center of the pulley groove. A pulley with a deeper offset distance (1.5") should give the proper alignment. Summit has several pulleys reasonably priced but they don't all give the offset distance, so you might have to ask for that measurement.

So I think the double pulley will work, but I think I have the wrong from pump bracket I think I need a 343301 bracket.

Yeah, the double pulley should work and will be needed if you need to route another belt across the PS pulley to your alternator or other accessory. But they usually cost more than an single pulley.
Not sure about your bracket, couldn't see much of it in the photos. Usually only need to replace the bracket if the one you have isn't fitting properly or if it's is causing interference with something else. If that's your case, then yes it will need replacing.

I bought the parts of ebay and the guy said they were all there. But the front bracket was not . So I bought what I thought was the correct front bracket for my rear bracket ,but the bend in the front bracket was too wide. I need bracket number 355789, I may have to cut and weld the front bracket to make it work...

Hi Bunky67 . . .

So, are you still looking at installing your power steering ?

If you look on your current power steering pump "PULLEY" ; it should have the correct Chevrolet "part number" stamped on the said pulley.
It's a 'single belt pulley' : this one in this picture = is on a 73 Nova car.

1. This p/s pulley is the : bolt on type single groove pulley .
There could be a different "dish" from the stock "press-on type pulley" .

2. showing the Chevy part number . Stamped on the pulley.

3. showing the L 6 'Later (bigger) power str pump "mount".
They also had a different style (early - smaller ) type pump
mount.

4. LOOK at the p/s "fan belt" & that water pump pulley (with the
"white paint" (mounted on the stock water pump) . It also has a
'part number stamped on the w/p pulley; and uses 3 fan-belts.
My guess - - you need that "extra w/p pulley" , to make your system work correctly. You ALSO Need to have a 'Bolt - on' , crank pulley. .
to make things work.

5. these pulleys ARE off of the same car / engine . The "extra"
pulley = is a separate pulley ; when you 'order p/s' on u'r
L 6 engine (along with the separate (bolt-on) crank pulley.

6.

7. showing the "Fan Belt alignment" . Look at where the p/s pump is sitting - -

8. showing the "bolt-on crank pulley , for adding on power
steering.

There are alot more pictures . All of these P/S parts = are now
gone. I hope this may help . You may need too contact 'the seller' ;
he may have more parts.
...............

. . . Pictures are golden . . .

I'm working on it as we speak. My pump is a newer style and I'm having to go with a 2 groove pulley (Press on). I'm hoping I can get away with out a double alternator pulley like the one in the picture but I will use what ever works..
Thanks for all the help.
