I have some parts that came new powder coated. Would like to change color of parts, but don't know about top coating powder coat. Can you paint over it? New color needs to be durable (drive train parts).
Thanks, Al.

I havn't finished setting up my powder coat shop yet so I can't answer this one.

But why not have them blasted and start fresh?

You want me to remove the coating on the brand new parts and start over? I can say, that is one option that I did not consider.

powder coat

Best results is to remove to bare metal, however you can coat over powder coating by sanding down the whole part to etch the metal for adhesion. You will lose the durability as the powder gets thicker though.

You can paint over powder coat no problem. Some companies even use powder coat as the base material before they paint for good adhesion. Just wet sand with 400-600 and shoot your base coat.

Cool, I hate it when my nice new paint falls off. Scuff and spray!
Thanks, Al
