We are not about locking everything down, but we do hold the members here to a high standard...We don't gamble anything here :rolleyes: losing a user or two that cause trouble seems to be a better payoff than losing a number of members that don't (from the same incident), and not to mention the volunteer staff that moderate this forum.

So, play as you will, and dig you own hole if you choose.

In the early 70's my goal for my first RED67 was a 12 flat. Ya see around here back then most of my friends had 340 Mopars and 350ci Camaro's. A 12 flat for a 4 barrel street/strip racer was Par.:yes:
So I thought if my 330 went 12 flat I could be proud:cool:

Made a few easy passes the first day in the 12.50 range.Seemed effortless.:sleep:
First WOT pass that day.............12.00 :D
So for the next few weeks we won some races at the track shifting at 8500rpm and running 11.90's & 12.0's

Then a good friend came over and gave me a lesson on "short shiftin". I didn't believe him,,,heck I was winning !
So I said OK, but the front bumper is going to hit the ground when it boggs in second gear. I mean hey,,this is a hi reving 327. LOL
Well,,,:eek:,,,a few quick shifts later...........11.55:eek:
"NO WAY,,it felt slow!" Back on the track I'm paying attention this time...........11.51 :bored: now I'm thinking. Shifting at 5500 first to second and couldn't keep it under 6500 second and third.:turn:

After rebuilding the engine for the next season with a 4 bolt block,,same combo,small journal with spacer bearings.............11.33 best with 12" Firestones and a little inner fender work.

Well, that's my 12 second combo story of nearly 40 years ago:)

Let me clarify the roll bar comment I made. Anyone can run without a roll bar if they don't exceed a certain et. Running 11s and 9s as the captions on the pictures said is too fast for no roll bar and a cage by the rules of the major racing organizations. I am surprised any sanctioned track would allow that but it seems some do in some areas. Outlaw tracks with no insurance do around here but they are 1/8 mile and non sanctioned.
Joe your a smart man and know as well as I do that you can click off one or 2 passes before getting kicked for not having a cage .

Also as for your comment about grudge cars not being safe I have to call BS. Your grouping all grudge guys into that statment. BTW there are of plenty fo 25.5 and 25.3 grudge cars. You mean to tell me Stevie Fast,Chad Henderson,Mike Hill. SHAne Stack dont have safe cars since the grudge ? Thats like saying if you grudge you sell dope. LOL

I hope most folks got my attempted point. I'm not a lawyer so my written word may fail my thought and attempt to express them. No fast car is safe without a cage in it and most sanctioned tracks with insurance concerns will allow you to run if you exceed the ET rules for bars and cages.

Ran a [email protected] with a 1.77 60ft time.This was its first and only pass.I had a tranny leak I have to get fixed and I will be back to try it again.

as stated you go thru tech with an normal looking street car on a small slick and stock int and the car looks like it runs 12's then you click off a 10.90 and they boot you out . THE TRACK DOESENT KNOW HOW FAST THE CAR IS UNTIL ITS RUN

Summit racing vortec replacement heads not really a vortec have the intake bolt pattern of a vortec with. Standard runner pocket ported they flow 253 intake and 170's on the exhaust at .550 lift
I'm running steel shim head gaskets so my measured compression ratio is 9.98:1
Summit headers
Comp xe282hr
Scorpion rockers 1.6:1
Air gap intake with 650 vac speed demon carb

4.11 gears eaton posi with caltracs
Turbo 350 2600 stall
235/70/15 radial t/a's

Best so far 13.03 at 109mph 60ft was a sad 2.166

Got into 12.8s @ Little River with over 4000# '72 [ incl driver.] 400[.030 over] destroked to 352 w/lg journal 327 crank. Dome pistons , 75 cc AFR heads , ancient Aluma Kote 1 5/8 headers , 2.5 mandrel bend exhaust , EZ EFI 2.0 + dual sync dist [A Godsend!] ,on RPM manifold.R4L80[ProTorque 2400 stall] on TCI control CAN linked to EZ EFI.Orig 8.5" Diff W/ Eaton TruTrac , 30 spline Moser axles, 3.73, M/T 255-15 Drag radials, Cal Tracs, Car Still has workin Factory AC & power steering. AFCO Alum Rad W/Taurus elect fan asm moded to fit, Summit Elec Water pump. Areomotive 340 Fuel pump Kit in orig Tank . 93 octane. Driven daily and to/from track 110 miles rd trip usually with AC on. Has C4 13" frt brks using non-drop sealed brng spindles that required 17" whls.14-16 mpg
