OK all you rear end guru's here is the situation.
I have an open carrier 12 bolt rear end in my 63. Anytime i've done a burnout it has been a one tire fire burnout.Recently the last couple times that i've done burnouts it's been posi??
Is this normal from time to time or is something wrong or locking up?
The rear end seems fine otherwise no noise or tire chirping around corners,
Any help would be appreciated , Thanks.

2 ways an open can hit posi. 1 both tires have equal traction. 2 the pinion spider gears are starting to weld themselves to the cross pin. You see that in diffs where guys like to peel out all the time.

Thanks bud I don't run the car hard very often so I don't know if the gears are starting to weld themselves to the cross pin or not.
Will it lead to being a problem if that is the case??
Thanks again.

Yeah the cross pin can snap if the gears eat too much of the material away. Or if the spider gears seize to the pin completely they can shatter.

One wheel burnouts kill differentials. The spider gears were never designed to make up for that much difference in tire rotation.
