How far should your oil pump be from the bottom of the oil pan on a rear sump pan.

I like my suction screen to be about 1/4" or so from the pan. If the screen is 1.5" x 3" you will still have 2.25 in² of area to suck the oil through, compared to the relatively small area of the pump input tube.
