Hello, I have a question on an oil pan issue. I'm building a 496 ci engine out of my 4 bolt 454 block with 2 piece rear main seal. This has a 1/4" stroked crank. I want to put a larger capacity oil pan with baffles, windage tray, etc. It is going in my 1969 Nova. Does anyone know of an oil pan that will fit, & still let me get to oil filter & starter?
Thanks

I'm using this pan and pumphttp://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SES%2D3%2D90%2D08%2D910&N=700+4294908216+4294840120+400304+115&autoview=sku kit:
And this windage tray:

And studs:

With a crank scraper:

You'll need this dipstick:

It's all supposed to fit a stock chassis with a 4.25" stroke crank. No problems with starter or oil filter.

Hey Al, have you actually installed that exact pan in a Nova? The reason I ask is what it says in the description:
"Oil Pan, Steel, Red, 8 qt., Chevy, Big Block, Tube Chassis Race Cars/Marine Only"

This one costs about twice as much but it's worth around 25 h.p. Matt King dynoed this one on the Car Craft Super Nova a few years back.

Or this Moroso--I run the small block version of this:

If you check the application detail it fit's.
I took the quote from the link YOU sent, that's why I asked. Your link says:
"Designed to fit tube chassis race cars and marine applications only"

yea, someone did the wrong ID, and everyone else followed.
Crazy!

Al

NOTE: if you put in 1970 Nova "454" No application
If you put "396" it gives correct application.

I have to say, it's pretty bad when you have to sell a part for a company because they don't know how to list it correctly!
