Hi all,
I have a 64 with a the 196 I6, that is leaking oil. The leak is slow but steady and persists even if the car is just sitting. (car has been sitting for about a month while I refurb the interior). Being that the car has not been started for a month, and the oil has been sitting in the pan all that time, what are the possibilities as far as where the leak is originating? Im hoping its something easy like a pan gasket. I intend to degrease the entire motor after my current project is wrapped up, but until then, I'm having a hell of a time identifying where the leak is originating. Thanks.

Look to see where the oil mark is on the ground. and then look at the points on the motor. If the motor has ever been ran Oil will drain for a Long time off any part that has oil on it.

Just use fluorescent leak check dye. It eliminates guessing.
