Oil from steering wheel?

Something that has been bothering me on and off for a while-

There is a small recess (can't tell if it's a screw hole or not) on the back of the steering wheel grip at the 6'oclock position.

Sometimes when I get in the car (and it always seems to happen when wearing light colored dress pants) my knee brushes up against the bottom of the wheel and some oil leaks out of this mystery hole and stains my pants forever.

I've stuck pieces of napkin in there to slow the progress, but over months/years the drop comes back.

It's a tiny amount, like 2-3 drops a year but I can't figure out what the h-e-double hockey sticks it could be, and why it keeps happening.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem and I plugged the hole with epoxy. That was a few years back. Right now, grabbing the wheel makes me understand what the Brer Rabbit experienced when it wrestled the ********. The whole surface has turned into something just like Permatex. The wheel originally came out of late 70's Camaro.
