13:99 Or Quicker*** Helmet Required*** Helmets Must Have Tag Inside With Snell Rated 95** Snell K98 ** Snell 2000 ** Snell 2005 ** Snell 90 No Longer Accepted. The way I read it is if you have a Snell 90 it is no longer good regardless of Expiration Date.
In the 2006 NHRA rule book on page 230 is a helmet expiration date schedule. It states that all Snell 90 rated helmets expire 1/1/2006 and Snell 95 helmets expire 1/1/2007. It is important for you to have this information because if you are in the market for a helmet, you want to ensure it does not expire in the two years.
I may be wrong but the way it looks to me is the snell rating is the basic date of manufacture for these helmets or maybe design specs for that time frame. My snell 90 was purchased in 1992 and my new snell 2000 was purchased in 2002. Never gave it much thought but now that I see the expiration dates verses snell rating that seems to make sense. RM
seems like they do. i went ahead and ordered a G-force snell 2005 rated helmet. it will be easier to sell should i decide to get a new one or i quit racing sometime down the road. black was out of stock so i got white. i was thinking of refinishing it anyway (or at least decorating it) so i figure it'll be alright. thanks guys!
