Well let me introduce myself. My name is Shaun and I am new to the forum. Origanally from the Bay Area, California and currently stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana. I am a Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran who just got back stateside and purchased a 63 Nova Wagon from an Army Buddy. Luckily the Wagon was owned by an Air Force Cpt. who never cut or modified the car so it is very close to stock. Under the hood is a fresh Inline 6 backed by a 2spd Powerglide. Has a few minor dings here and there which was to be expected to include a bad spot in the passenger rear quarter(under the tail-light) which will need to be cut out and replaced (found a yard in Seattle who will cut and ship).

Im sure I will be on the forum picking your brains for advice and links for I am a amatuer car enthusiast on an Army paycheck. This will be my second build a 62' Chevy C-10 Shortbed Fleetside 383cu 700r4 being my first while fresh out of high school 10 yrs ago.

I'll be talking to you all later, thanks for the support :D

Welcome! My son was in the sandbox and also Fort Polk. I took Basic there (in 1965!). I have no fond memories of the place. I, too, have a 63 wagon, but it's kinda taking a back seat to the 72 for now. Have a pile of parts collected, though.:D

First of all, thank you for your service to our country!:salute:

So what are your plans for the Longroof?

John

Oh yeah.....welcome.....

John
Well right now its a daily driver until I can get'er back to Cali and Garage her. First order of buisness is a power front disc conversion kit (possibly with 2" drop spindles) I found online for $499.00 (minus the drop spindles, unless someone knows of cheaper). I then plan to smooth and shave the body. I would like to do a modern charcoal carpet kit, bucket seats in front, dakota digital cluster, mild stereo and a more childs car seat bench in the back. Im not sure yet if I want to retain the straight 6 and powerglide, I may swap for a 383 or 355 stroker 700r4 combo but right now that is wishfull thinking. I would love to see it bagged but out here in Louisiana it would just kill the undercarriage on these jacked up roads. One thing for sure is I would really like to find a nice chrome roofrack but I havent even started looking quite yet. Again these are just ideas I've been throwing around since I picked it up 3 days ago but we all know how these things go, It usually changes along the way unless its fully funded from the get-go. I would like to do this one right but with that said only time will tell where its gonna go along the way.

HaHaHa, No offense to those who live out here but I have more fond memories from Iraq, Kuwait, Korea, and Qatar than I do in Fort Polk. I guess Im just a spoiled City boy from Cali. LoL, but I have adopted the taste of Crawfish:stir:

from one 63 wagon to another...

welcome to the Longroof Society
I noticed you are from San Ramon, I once lived in Danville and attended Greenbrook Elementry and also Fredrickson Elementry while living off of Alcosta Blvd. Finished growing up in Livermore, Love the Wagon in your pic.
