Hello all, I'm new to forums and this is the first one I've joined! I have a 71 Nova with a 406 SBC. Had it a few years now and was looking for a good forum to help guide me when it came to issues and wrenching. Here's some pics.

I am not very mechanically inclined, but that's part of the reason I joined. I am hoping to gain some insight when it comes to actually working on my car. It was built this way when I bought it and I want to keep her nice and healthy. I would love any recommendations on books that could help me learn to work on engines like mine. I am into all sorts of cars, but good ol' American muscle has always been my favorite. I'm looking forward to being a part of the community!

Very nice looking 71. Welcome to the club. What does your 406 put out for HP and Tq? Any pictures of the engine bay?

My two favorite sources of info: Hot Rod magazine and The Chevrolet Racing Engine by Bill Jenkins. The people on this site are very sharp, too! Welcome! Dean

Hello Keegan

Here in Chino Valley, Arizona .... WELCOME to SNS ... a good looking 71 NOVA you have there.

Glad to Get Another AZ NOVA with us here === THE BEST Site FOR ANY Nova -- of any kind, I've got a 'plane jane 69 2dr - original Phoienix, AZ car (I bought from the Grandson .... so, only the 2nd owner).

1st thing going .....

go back to your "sig. box" --- enter the town/city, & state (for location), plus, your type Nova ... 2dr, 4dr, 'jet powered' ?, year, ... the more we know th' better.
Reason : I found out that another SNS member lives only about 10 miles from me, here in Chino Valley. Then, (by listing that info), I also got too meet up with a "Wild & Crazy Guy named 'Poindexter' " ... and, we worked at the same company === small world, indeed.

Then, for Great INFO , look here : (some info no-longer works, but good info.

Thanks! I was told by the previous owner that it is good for 500hp and 500ft-lbs of torque but I have yet to get it dyno'd to see if that's true. Here are some engine pics.

Welcome to the site! That is a great looking 71 Nova.
Your car looks like it's a blast to drive.

P.S. It looks like you have an MSD Blaster 3 ignition coil and I believe this coil is oil filled. I have read that you should mount this type of coil so it is in a vertical/upright position (terminals pointing to the top) so that the internal wiring of the coil will cool better.
See paragraph right above the installation procedures.

Hi Keegan-

I'm also in Surprise with a '63 and a few other cars as well. I feel like I've seen your car before!?! The AZ Nova BBQ will be at Veramonte park in November. PM me so I can add you to my distribution list if you are interested.
