So I decided to re-do my whole exhuast system. I'm thinking about buying the Summit "Build Your Own X-Pipe" kit ($75) with a pair of the Summit Super Turbo mufflers since they are so cheap.

Has anyone used this kit or these mufflers?

I think the word "turbo" in the mufflers scares me a bit, that I'm not going to like the tone. Is this still a true muscle car sound muffler? Or is it all about the pipe size?

I was planning on getting 2 1/4in pipe or will that be a noticable difference in size? I'm not really sure what I have on my car now honestly and I'm pretty new to all of this stuff.

PS, this is a daily driver, but I'm not scared to have a loud ride. Also has headers and dual exhaust currently with cheap crappy mufflers.

why don't you just change your mufflers???
l understand thats weird to say but hey its easy to do and does alot.
will it really be that big of a difference with just a muffler swap? i guess all of this is a bit over the top then? i was just figuring i'd do it all at once so i don't have to buy new mufflers when i upgrade the pipe later on down the road.

I hate to tell you but swapping mufflers is not gonna do alot for performance...maybe 5hp?maybe alittle more with an x pipe.Like I said before if you don't know what you have get under there and measure.don't go too big...that will hurt performance with a stock motor. You decided against the magnaflows?bm

I've still been deciding really. I just figured the turbos were really cheap and the x pipe kit seemed like a good deal. I know I have small piping because I was told that I should bump up to 2 1/4 by a knowledgable friend. But he wanted to do it through a shop with flowmasters and it was going to be $400 so this seemed more reasonable to me.

By the way, the idiot previous owner welded tips onto the pipe and did an awful weld job on all of the other parts.

you most likely have 2" exhaust.you can figure out the diameter of the exhust pipe you have....get under there and measure the circumference of the pipe(around the pipe)....divide by 3.14(pi)= diameter.you better figure this out before you order anything.bm
ps this is you cool classic car...why do you wanna go so cheap??Cheap you have to replace in a year or two...you get what you pay for.bm

Okay, thanks for the formula, I'll do that tomorrow most definitely. I thought about doing the dynomax turbos also...don't know about magnaflow's. Don't really want it sounding like the Magnaflow Vette.

Wow! There's so much feedback out there with so many different opinions, got me thinkin' about everything! Still don't really know what to do. Might go for some cherry bombs with the pipes I have now, so I can save for a good kit. Not sure.

Keep the opinions coming in please! Can't say it enough. I'm looking for loud streetable performance. It's not a track car at all, but I still want it loud.

i had a 7" circumferance which i guess means that it's 2.25in pipe, so maybe i should go with mufflers?
