Well,
Yesterday I fired the new 406 small block and am putting the finishing touches on the car and getting ready to test n tune on this Sunday. The drivetrain is basically new from motor to rearend.

Here's what was done: New motor, tranny rebuilt, new u joints in drive line, new gears, new axel bearings, calvert split mono leaf springs, new slicks.

This motor made quite a bit more tq than the 357 so we will see what numbers it put out. I am really interested to see how the split mono leafs affect the launch. It snowing right now but Sunday is supposed to be sunny and 61 degrees.

My brother updated his heads so hopefully he will have some new numbers to post as well.

Glad to be going racing again...it seems to be about the only time I don't worry about everything else in life.

The track is located just south of Emmett. I live in Nampa and it is 45 miles round trip from my house to the track and back.

The facility is awesome. Run very well with 600 paved pit spots so you don't have to park on the grass or dirt.

Would be great to see you come down and race. Hopefully if the track gets squared away in Spokane we will be up there for the Summit race next year.

Well I survived the test in tune but I was bested by my brother on all three passes in the mph department.

The good news is the changes worked and the car was consistent and produced new best et's, mph's and 60's.

Had three passes:
1st pass
60'-1.496
1/4 mile ET-10.824
mph-124.32

2nd pass
60'-1.496
1/4 mile ET-10.839
Mph-122.48 (not sure why so slow)

3rd pass
60'-1.500
1/4 mile ET-10.794
Mph-125.22

The split mono leafs took care of the the separation that the car would do when I got on the converter. Boy I have to get on the brakes a lot harder to slow down when you go 125 vs 118 mph but man it sure pulls hard.

David's car out mph'd me on each pass and by almost a full mph on the final one. He isn't making the tq but is making a lot more hp than I am.

Overall I am very pleased with what the numbers were and it still ran when I pulled it in the trailer.......that means it was a good day.

Thanks for reminding me. I have always gauged my day based on the car running and the big parts still in tact as a good day.

Yeah, that it is pretty amazing how much harder it is to slow down but it is a nice problem to have.
