holley 750 ultra hp mt drag radial not spiinig
More converter, 2400 is not much at all for drag racing.

Al
I agree with Al, more convertor. I run a 10" Coan that stalls around 4300. Are you foot braking or just leaving off an idle?
more stall on the convertor. or a little nos or both.
I have the same problem, running mid 12's at 111 mph with a crummy 2.0 60 ft time. Car is not spinning or bogging off the line, just lazy out of the hole.

Everyone has told me to go with more converter. I've called around a few converter shops and they have all recommended 3200-3800 RPM range stall speed in a 10" converter based on my engine/car specs that I provided them.

I'm currently running a 2000-2200 RPM stall right now similar to yours.

I'd go with what the above guys said, more converter should help you out. From my understanding, getting a good quality one will still have good street manners without too much slippage and heat vs a cheaper one that stalls the same RPM but slips a lot around town and generates a lot of heat.

I'm thinking of getting one next year. If you get one this year and run your car again I'd be interested to see how much quicker you go. Keep us posted.

With 115 mph trap speed you should get into the 11's no problem with a higher stall speed converter.

Yes it is and now you are talking.
I've heard of guys using 4000+ stalls on the street with no issues. As long as you run a good trans cooler and its a good quality converter, it shouldnt slip much on the street.

My car is 95% street and I told this to all the converter shops and they all recommended 3200-3800 RPM for the street. They said it wouldnt slip much more than a stock converter on the street, but when you punch it, it'll spin up to the stall RPM and take off.

From what I understand its based on your engine's peak torque, your cam, car weight, rear gears, and several other factors. The idea is to get the car right up to peak torque off idle and keep it there until the gears keep the RPM's up once you're rolling.

It sounds pretty aggressive, but I've heard lots of guys rave about their 3500 stall on the street and they have no trans issues at all.

There seems to be a big difference from a cheap off the shelf unit vs a custom built unit. The smaller diameter, the more efficient the unit is as well. All the shops I talked to said a 10" converter would be fine on the street for my car. But you should try giving a few converter shops a call, fill out their online spec sheets and submit them, and they'll get back to you with what they think is best. Then you'll get a better idea too.

This is just all what I've heard or been told by guys on the forum here. I'm sure they can give you a better idea of what to look for and what the difference is between various converters.

well i purchased a 3800 stahl converter hope to get it in soon and see how it does
Make sure you're u joints and yokes are in good shape. Also if you don't have a drive line hoop front and rear installed it sure wouldn't hurt. You might also if you haven't already done so throw fird type f trans fluid in it to help firm up you're shifts. RICK

Great, can't wait to see your new faster times. I am running a 4100 (9.5") converter in mine.:yes::yes:

Good advice, I replaced my u joints with the solid ones. I also use Type F in this 72 I have and in my last 71 as well.

I still have a loop that I never put on the 71 and I need to see if I can get it on this 72. Hoping my x-pipe doesn't get in the way or I will have to get a different one.
His car is going to be a rocket ship when he gets that convertor installed. He will probably have to do some different tuning things with the car leaving harder. RICK

Heres another part you might want to install if you haven't already done so. If you go this route you will also need a filter extenson and filter. RICK
