test fit a wheel vintiques 15-8 396ss wheel
the stock pontiac 15-7 rim fits over the rear disc brakes fine
the wv wheels hit on the inside i was thinking of using those or series 29 rally wheels from them but i think those would hit also
bad pics but you get the idea
always liked the look of the older style Chevy marker
in this case 69 camero
the light plugs in the same but you do have to elongate the whole a little
i have a 79 that had a 454 and a Muncie in it. the muncie is still there but I blew up the 454 last spring. 350 roller in there now until the 454 gets rebuilt.
anyways, if you want a set of header i have a set off of my 79 they are black flowtechs. PM if your interested, not looking for a lot of cash for em.
keep up the good work, and keep us posted. Big Block 4th gens rock!
I love that idea for the side markers. I may have to steal it if that's ok with you. I already shaved the "Nova" script off the fender and put the '64-'67 V-8 emblem a little lower. This may be a cool touch to finish off the look.
i have never seen them on a 4th gen nova before but i liked the look
so i took a chance and bought them , i like the look
the grill looks better in the pic then in real life , the lenses have some cracks and the chromes peeling , but this is a car to be driven it will will never be a show car
heater core with big block cover all in
. a 68 bb Camaro Heater core is P/N 399055.(I belive thats Ready-Aire) thanks ls6rally
test fit drivers seat before welding new mounts in
found that i either had to get a longer arm or move the shifter to the rear position
i chose to move the shifter
and i got the trans on the mounts
next week hopefully i get a chance to pull the power steering box out of my parts car , since i removed the manual to put friends s-10 blazer drag truck
cam quest 6 from comp cams
is great tool
ever wonder how when you call comp they seem to know the right cam well they have a program for that called cam quest 6
at any rate it great helper for picking out cams if you put in a bad choice it will tell you
in may case i was looking for a mild low rpm engine with some torque
it gave about 10 choices and i picked one out of those that i thought would work best
here is what i told it
lifter type hyd roller
carb 750
intended usage auto hp street choppy to mild idle
short block Chevy 427 bore 427 stroke 3.760
cylinder heads stock 2.065/1.72 valve
compression ratio 8.2
exhaust manifold with mufflers
cam i used is a xr270hr
according to cam quest power rating
peak torque is 455 at 3500 rpm
peak hp is 375 at 5000 rpm
now i could easily increased the power by upping the compression ratio
using these same specs but changing to 9.5 comp
would bumped it to
peak torque 485 at 3500
and peak hp 406. at 5000
and of course if i did the compression and did headers not the manifolds
it bumps it to 530 torq
and 461 hp
but using this combo it the low rpm hp is horrible in comparison
to the setup i have
i chose to lose almost 100 hp at 5000 to get
to gain a extra 100 hp at 1000 rpm
and be able to burn the cheep gas as i cruise along in fifth gear
okay time to start again working on the nova
working finishing up the engine
got the new air cleaner just need to run the hoses and wires and the engine will be done
The Day 1 of CHEVYFEST scheduled today at NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY HAS BEEN CANCELLED due to rain.
so i think i will go get my parts car before it get snowed in again !
summer is over time to start work on the nova again
Thanks, even though I have a small block I never did like the location of the heater hoses behind the valve covers. The big block way looks cleaner, I thinks.
