Started working on the DS floor pan yesterday. Cut out the old rusty one and noticed some pin-holes peeking at me from the damn inner cowl panel. Have to replace the dash cap panel anyways so transitioned to removing that so i could begin to get access to the inner cowl area. This is gonna be fun.

Back on the DS floorpan. This re-pop has different channels and wells than my original. Maybe 71-72 floors are slightly different than 73-74? Or maybe it’s a Camaro pan? I can make it work. Had to remove the manual shifter hump tonight so I can get a good fit. Drilled 3 cleco puns before I removed the spot welds and hump so I can get it back in place correctly.

I didn't notice if there was any difference to that detail. The full length R and L repop pans I bought for my 72 look the same as yours.

Not sure this will illustrate but the original pan did not drop off creating that island.

You have shown a dedication to this project, that I probably don’t have at this point. And my car will need the same work at some time in the future. For now, I’m just going with one quarterpanel, patching one floor pan (Pass front), and the trunk floor.
Thanks for posting all these pictures, people do look at them, and you have certainly gave me a realistic preview of what it takes to correctly repair the rust an older Nova.

I see that you have been bored and using the time and skill in making your dream come to reality . Nice progress since my lastbpost to your build . Any update(s) since your last post ?
I did finish welding that floor pan. Did some metal work to repair the shifter hump/tunnel from removing it. Spot weld holes. Started stripping paint from the rest of the interior floors. Currently lamenting over how to proceed with primer coatings. I’ve sprayed etch primer all over this car as I’ve proceeded with repairs/fabrication and sand blasting without knowing the perils of using that stuff. I really want to lay down a seal coat of epoxy primer but am reading that’s a no-no. Talked to a friend that used to work in the auto body industry and he says go for it. You know how that goes though. I’ve sort of backed myself into a corner on this one. Currently considering 2k primer followed by single stage topcoat. But I really want the epoxy sealer for protection.

Decided to go back through my thread and replace the photobucket pics with image uploads. Turns out you can only edit up to 10 posts every 7 days. Trying to figure out why that restriction exists. Maybe I have to throw some money at the site, become a premium member to lift that restriction? One more irritation and delay.
