Ditto! Have to blast the housing, scrub out the inside, prime and paint, then send off to the builder. Gonna let a pro weld the outer housing ends on using a jig and then build it out. That and I think I'm going to redo the link arms with 1.25" dom tube and bigger spherical rod ends. Currently 1" dom with 5/8" shank rod ends and I'm just not sure they will hold. At least the top links anyways.

Trying to figure out how to post pics again!

Decided I couldn't work on the floor anymore!

Started with these plans and adjusted the design to fit my needs. If you have any questions, let em' rip. I have lots of build pics for this Rotisserie project. What may be of particular interest is the absence of any hydraulic lifting jacks on the ends.

Cage progress

I don't remember where I left off with the cage build but here is where I am now.

The 4-link cross-member has been tricky. I knew I was going to have to beef it up eventually, and that time has come. I've made a upper member to tie it into the cage and frame structure. I'll be doing some fabrication under the car to beef it up also. I haven't decided exactly how I'm going to do it, but I've got some ideas.

2019 Annual Update - 8 Years on "Darla" so far!

This past year I've:
1. Pulled the LQ4 from the donor vehicle.
2. Pulled the Bucket Seats from donor, modified to fit the Nova.
3. Made back-half sheet-metal templates out or cardboard.
4. Made sheet-metal flanges for back-half metal.
5. Made an abrasive blaster.
6. More cage tubes and reinforcements to 4-link cross-member.
7. Changed the casters (to HD) on the rotisserie.
8. Partially sand-blasted and primed the front sub-frame.
9. Disassembled the front sub-frame for repair.
10. Currently repairing the front sub-frame cross-member.

Posting a link to the Google Album. I can't figure out how to post decent pictures directly to the site. The uploads seem to rotate the pics, the links don't appear to show the photo. Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by doing this.

Added a photo album directly to the site showing my Christmas vacation progress on Darla.

Spent a lot of time working on the sub-frame cross-member to remove and replace the rusted structure. I finally finished it and then went into sandblasting mode. I sandblasted and primed both the repaired subframe and the under-body of the car.

I knew I had some rust spots in the floors but never noticed the passenger front body mount support rust. Damn...more tricky fab work ahead. I have to replace sections of the front floor pans on both sides...but that damn body mount. I checked Goodmark, Classic Industries, AMD and YearOne. No dice on any of it, as best as I could tell I least. I'm planning on fabricating all of it.

Also of interest and a source of aggravation, check out the rocker/body seam assembly in the last photo above. That is on the driver side. I'm assuming this is a factory QC issue. I have found no evidence of any collision or repair in this area. I do however have plenty of evidence of the shitty factory assembly and welds...so, there is that. While working on the sub-frame, I had to grind out and re-do excessive factory welds in critical areas. It was obscene, IMO.

Kudos for hanging in there to get it done. To bad Photobucket had to change it's policies and mess up all the hard work you put into your build thread.
I know...such is life I guess. I thought about paying my daughter to go back and repair it. So far, little interest has been shown.
