New here, so I thought I'd post a few pics of my project. Bought the car in 2000 for my wife, ( I have 57 Belair ) but she wouldn't drive it because the paint was falling off. So I started to fix the paint and ended up a resto. Just got it back into the garage in Dec after 7 years of sitting. Since Dec done floor pans undercarriage, front sus, dash etc.Planning on 3rd gen motor and trans, trying to keep body all org.

Nice color Jim. Our Cloner I did in the same color!! Awesome. Yes, very hard to take a true pic of the color!! Flash changes it as does bright sun. Need an outside shot on a bright day, little overcast. Carry on, it looks like its gonna be sweet. Do you have the "all important" trim bits n pieces??

Good Luck. BOGIE

You probably know him, but Tin Man over on the island has a lot of vintage stuff. He may be able to find you some of the trim. Swap meets are also pretty good. I always go through the emblem boxes looking for extras for my car!!

There is also a guy in Aldergrove, Menno. He sometimes advertises on Craigslist and I think some of the guys here have bought stuff off of him.

If you wish, I could dig up his phone number.

Got the car on all 4's:) today It's been about 10 years since she has had all her tires on. Trying to get ready to drop the LS1 in. While I was out in the yard a customer that I deliver to stopped by to showed me his Acadian that he just bought, said it would give me some motavation

Finally back on it

Finally back to work on the Canso ( busy summer ) Now that the days are getting shorter I can spend more time in the garage. Took the doner 5.3 and 4l60 out of the GMC. Looks like there's enough wiring to go around the earth. This should be interesting:rolleyes:

Progress

Spent a little more time in the garage today/night. Got the 3/8 fuel line in the stock sending unit( trick: filled the line with sandblast sand and pluged at each end so it wouldn't kink ), will use the old supply line for the return line, just have to silver solder new line in. Also got the computer sorta mounted, cut down the orig truck mount so there is still air space between the fenderwell and computer for cooling. Figured I could use stock acell lincage and think it will work fine, just have to make a mounting bracket to hold throtle cable. Progress so far :)

progresss

Thanks h8tuloose.Well spent the week in the shop, work, work, work, but I luv it . Motor is mounted, fuel pickup is silver soldered, throtle is hooked up and trans crossmember is made. Ended up useing stock pedal, shaft and arm. Had to tweek the arm 7/16-1/2 to clear fuel rail but it all worked out, still have to tweek the foot pedal. Get full throtle but would like a little bit more pedal movement.

Trans crossmember is ready to go in, had to remember some trig and construction skills(rise/run) from years past but it fit!!!!! Tabs on the end of crossmember will be welded to my frame connectors. This will be my budget build, bought a complete 2000 GMC and will use everything I can out of it. Think I can even use the shifter cable, split it in half and will modify the bottom section. Plan on using dash fuse panel, fuel lines, trans lines as much as I can to save a buck. Wont be anything fancy, but it will be an LS swap that I can afford.
