why is it that on some cars no matter what you do on it, it always has a slight miss when idling? i notice even after you do a full tune-up with cap, rotor, wires, plugs, air cleaner, fuel filter, the car has a miss? why is that?

Mine did that too. Turned out the valves weren't adjusted correctly. Purrs like a kitten now.

One thing that is often overlooked that can cause a miss while idling is a worn distributor gear. If the gear is worn and gets some excessive backlash with the cam gear, it will run decent while accelerating but when it idles you can hear a faint miss at the rear tail pipes (like it's not fully firing on all 8 cylinders) and the plugs will tend to load-up and foul too.

carbon build up on the valves can cause a misfire, as well as dirty air bleeds in the carb. A worn distributor, faulty or wrong size plug wires, spark plug boots arcing out, too hot or cold heat range plugs, not gapped properly. Too much initial timing. Lean A/F mixture. Hope this helps.
