1966 Chevrolet Nova L79 presented as Lot T85 at Kissimmee, FL
Looked in the open trunk of this car today and found this......
Might not show up so good in the photos but this "frame off restoration in 2018" L79 Nova has had a nasty rear end collision in the past. The body and paint is finished to show quality but how in the world would you not replace the bent to hell trunk pan, drop off and bumper brace? Based on the other L79 car that sold today for $75,900 with fees, this car will be right up there too. Look at the photos on Mecum's site and look closely at the rear end photo. The bumper is up against the tail light on the drivers side and the trunk gap beside the tail light is tight. I can't believe people would spend big money on an auction car sight unseen. As usual, it's buyer beware.
This car went across the block this morning (Thursday). Bid to 60K, but didn't meet the reserve. Bidders did their homework on this one. A good L79 sport coupe would have gone
north of $75K. Some things holding this one back, including what bucc pointed out above.
Could be the major repair to the rear was the main reason for the 2018 'frame off' restoration. Being an L79 (if it really is), they missed the boat by not putting on the side trim
during the resto. If a seller is expecting L79 dollars, the car has to be complete.
