I'm about to put a Gen III 6.0L/4L80e in my 62 nova.
I have the heidt's front clip installed.
Just wanted some in put from someone who has done it.
I plan to use the S&P mounts.
Anyone one that has done a LS1 conversion please let me know:
What mounts did you use?
What headers?
Type of transmission? Crossmember used? Shift used?
Wiring harness used?

I have read plenty of posts of people putting this setup in 1st Gen Camaro, but very few people using 1st Gen nova.

Any help greatly appreciated

Hey,

Check out the Street and Performance site. They sell a kit to install an LS1 into a first gen.

Ls1 swap

I swapped a 2002 ls1 into my 66 nova. Used a jimease chassis front clip (complete piece of junk). S&p motor mount plates the s&p slave cylinder adapter plate they sell for the f-body worked great. I had to run a 7" brake booster from SSBC. Headers are hooker block hugger stainless (fit great). I used the t56 so I called phil at BRP hotrods (770-751-0687) and he built me a crossmember for $165. He also makes one for the 4l80e. My car is not on the road yet but this summer it should be rollin.

Thanks for all the info everyone.

I have been to LS1tech.com and S&P's sites lot of good info at both places.

I would like more first hand knowledge from someone that did the swap.

Anyone else?

With my Heidts' sub frame I had to have the passenger side engine mount cut and rewelded for the needed offset and to fit the S&P motor mounts. The F oil pan fits OK. The A/C compressor had to notch the mounting bracket a little then it fits right in. Stock drivers side exhaust fits, passenger side doesn't. I modified the passenger side unit to fit(fun!?) as I've yet to find a set of headers other than the block huggers that fit. right now I'm looking into the new Hooker (https://www.holley.com/2288-1HKR.asp) header and the Stainless Works (http://www.stainlessworks.net/cart/product_info.php?cPath=94_225_226&products_id=1178) one. Check with Year One for the trans mount (http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/fbshopmain2.asp?cat=6). Hope this helps some.

Thanks.
Great info Pete...
I was wondering if the camaro pan would clear.
That's good to know.
Motor and tranny get here tomorrow.
Looks like I need to find a LS1 pan ASAP.

Also let me know about the hooker headers if you try them.
Thanks...

Stock coils are supposed to be good for like 2000+hp, kinda makes the $800. MSD coils kinda pointless...lol.
