the car will crank up and run fine.the fuel pressure is at 9 psi at start up.after driving for 5-10 minunites the fuel pressure will go down[sometimes to 0]and will begin to sputter[jump]at cruising speeds.but, it is fine under acceleration.the car is a 1967 chevelle.540 bbc,holley black fuel pump,holley regulator.what could it be?

Loosing fuel pressure

Strainer cloging up in tank,fuel pump strainer cloging up in pump and fuel tank rusting in side of tank. Quick fix,magnet on low point of tank. Good luck! Paul

Could be:
strainer clogging

Fuel pump getting hot and "burning up"

Vapor lock - Check and make sure none of the fuel lines run too close to hot components. Gasoline boils at a pretty low temp so if it gets too hot in the line it will form gaseous bubbles.

Bad regulator

Liquid filled gage - typically read "Off" when they get hot.:yes:

Another question is why 9 psi? The needle and seats in the carb will typically have issues controlling the fuel flow with pressure that high.:yes: I usually set them up with 6.0-to-7.5 depending on the application and fuel type and whether or not the same system also feeds the nitrous system.
