64 nova
350 crate (heche in mexico)
turbo 350 trans
3.08 gears
1.6 roller rockers
edelbrock performer rpm 64cc heads
headers + flowmasters
performer rpm air gap intake
600cfm edelbrock carb
hydraulic flat tappet

have a thumpr cam in there and have learned the error of my ways :eek:

im ok with changing the converter to whatever i need..

looking for a cam that is real strong from 2k to 5.5k. looking for a ton of midrange punch. drag racing (on the track) is more important then freeway runs to me...

How's this..

Lunati VooDoo Part # 60103
Hydraulic. The most awesome 268 cam ever produced! Out-powers all others! This High Performance street cam likes 2400 RPM stall, 700 cfm carb, dual plane intake and headers. Makes un-equaled power to 6200 RPM with proper valve springs. If you're looking for a Very Strong cam with great street manners then this cam is it.

* Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 268/276
* Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 227/233
* Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .489"/.504" w/1.5 rockers or .521"/.538" w/1.6 rockers
* LSA/ICL: 110/106
* Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
* RPM Range: 1800-6200

It would LOVE a 2800 converter and a bit more gear.

For even better performance you can switch to a solid flat tappet Voodoo part #60140
233 / 241
.505” / .520” w/1.5 rockers .539" / .555" w/1.6 rockers
110 / 106
2400-6600

The solid cam might require a valve spring upgrade as well.:D

I have installed this cam twice and torque it's middle name!

And one engine had the very heads you have!

It's a Crower part # 00226

Now, your gonna need a 3k stall, and more carb than 600cfm

I have also had great success with Lunati. I feel they are on top of the game.

I suggest the Crower is personal experience and a positive result.

Al

If you want the best result update to a roller cam!!!

My 350 I had in my 64 when I was in college had a comp cams 268H cam and I had installed it with 2* advance at the cam. Stock bottom end with stock heads and a performer with a 750 vac sec carb, 1 5/8" headers, 2 1/2" exhaust and a th350 with 3.08's. That little combo ran great!!! excellent low end torque and power to 5500RPMs. I also had a stock converter too.
You won't be dissapointed with the voodoo cams either.

I am running pretty much the same motor with an Elgin e921p cam. Duration @.50 of 224 - 224 with 450 - 460 lift and adverstised duration of 282 - 292 with a 114 LSA. This cam is very similar to the late 60's Chevy cam used in the 350HP motors.

I had this engine dyno'd using a Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold and a Edelbrock 600 cfm carb, Mallory HEI ignition on 87 Octane. THe original HP for the motor was 290 stock, the dyno results were 320HP and 365 pounds of torque. The power band was 2000 to 5500RPM. The motor pulls very strong and yet your are still able to run power brakes etc. I have the dyno results if you care to see them. IMO this is a great combination and you can run a stock converter.

That cold blooded part is the AFR heads. Almost every engine I have done with aluminum heads is a cold natured.

Looking for Cam Suggestion...

Hey Now all y'all, "Bill's" II here... I think the biggest issue that is wrong with the total package and he listed it. 3.08 rear gears just will not do what he is wanting to do. This car needs, 3.56; 3.73; 4.11, take your pick in order to accomplish what you are after. I use 3.36 in mine with a 377 ci. Although I am still currently reassembling the whole car, I am still anxious to get on the road again. Respectfully, "Bill's" II
