are these a good idea to use with a cowl hood. Looks to me like these would flow alot more air, especially with it sitting up in the hole of the goodmark hood. Question, would these have a tendency of getting water into the motor if it was to sit in the rain at a show or get caught driving in it.

I wouldn't worry about water getting in there.
It would have to flat out pour down rain to cause any problems.
Are you going to have the hood seal around the carb base?
If so I would make sure to have some small drain holes to let any water out that could accumulate in that area.
Also does that lid have any sort of internal taper to it to give it a Venturi effect or help the in coming air swirl into the carb smoothly?
I would like to do something similar.

I plan on using an aluminum cake pan to make a cold air induction like on the old SS Camaro's.
