Can an after market floor pan be installed without taking off the body from the chassis?

Years ago I remember someone just spot welding a metal real estate sign on to the rusted out floor board of my brother's 63 after the rust areas had been abated. It made for very cold rides but it worked.

I just want to know what would be involved in putting in a new floor pan and can it be done from inside the cab if you use the half pans?

Just got the pans for my 62 and I plan on welding them in from the top. Any goobers will be covered up by the carpet anyway.

But a wise old man recently told me that if I do it that way, use seam sealer on the underside to seal up the gap. Since I will be overlaping them.

I put floors in my Camaro and my 72 Nova with no problems and I did it from the top. I welded them on both sides and I overlapped them about 1/2 inch then I seam sealed the underside. Both were full front to rear pans.
