Hey,
well I installed the camshaft on my block and then was going to install the timing gears and chain. here is the issue, when installing the gear for the crank It goes all the way in and moves freely the lock thingy(key way?) that should hold it in place is too far in front.... so now what? Please help a brother out!

Wrong key?? Im assuming it wont go in backwards. Dont force it, nuthing harder to get out than a key. I almost remember putting the key in the gear first then sliding it all on together. Been years and Ive only done the one engine. Plenty of oil too, dry keys dont slide well. JR

there are two half moon keyways.... remove the first one.. and put it in the slot closest to the #1 main cap.... then.. your cam gear should line up the way you want....

next.. you will need a second half moon keyway for the dampener.
