How too clean a radiator?

727 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  ccvair
I have a radiator ive had in storage for awhile, while it checks out good under pressure its getting a bit of green corrosion on the core. I can rub it off with a cloth but the whole rad on the outside needs a good cleaning. The inside is clean as a pin, what do you guys suggest I use to clean it with?

WHAT'S ON IT GRIME , DIRT, GREASE, ETC.

I CLEANED MY I6 RADIATOR WITH GUNK DEGREASER AND SANDED IT, THEN PAINT. BUT THIS ONE WAS BEAT TO HECK. WHAT'S UP WITH YOURS?
Perhaps put some CLR in a windex bottle spray it and then gently hose it off? That stuff seems to be good at dissolving that sort of crud.

Its got a bit of rust on the botoom support nothing major, just grungy and has a light film of the green stuff growing on the core.Just wondering how I should deal with it and not cause any dammage. The CLR sounds like a plan.I wonder if brasso in a spray bottle would get rid of the green tarnish light corrosion?
