What do I look for to tell if a 67 is a true SS ?
Thanks.

That's simple. If the VIN starts with 117 or 118 it's a real SS. 117 is a 6-cylinder SS and 118 is a V8 SS. Also, don't go by the cowl tag, only the VIN. If the VIN looks tampered with then walk away.
I thought that non-SS V8 cars could also have a 118 VIN? Such as a 67 283 powered Sedan......what about non SS coupes? I am suddenly more confused....I thought the 118 just designated it as a V8?
For earlier Novas it is different but for 1965 thru 1967 Novas, the VIN breaks down like this:

Digit 1 = GM Division:
- 1 = Chevrolet

Digits 2 and 3 = Model Series:
- 11 = Chevy II 100, L4
- 13 = Chevy II 100, L6
- 14 = Chevy II 100, V8
- 15 = Chevy II 400, Nova, L6
- 16 = Chevy II 400, Nova, V8
- 17 = Chevy II Nova SS, L6
- 18 = Chevy II Nova SS, V8

Digits 4 and 5 = Body Style:
- 11 = 2 door sedan
- 35 = 4 door wagon
- 37 = 2 door coupe
- 69 = 4 door sedan

Digit 6 = Model Year:
- 5 = 1965
- 6 = 1966
- 7 = 1967
