Has anyone ever taken their car to hot August nights in Rena before? I'm planning on going for my first time and driving my car over there. Do you guys have any recommendations for hotels to stay at? Do I need to register my car to attend the shows? And how safe is it to having the car parked over night.
I just finished my car. So I'm a little nervous having it parked in the street or in a hotel parking lot over night.

Iv known about this show for years. and know how huge it gets. It's been on my bucket list to drive my car there for about 9 years. And this year is the year for me to do it.
I just dont know the details. Like where the beat place to stay at. To be close to all the events.

Here's the website. The sooner you register your vehicle the cheaper it is.
I haven't actually participated yet. Last year would have been my first if I didn't blow up the 2004r and it holding me back from getting my 66 painted and ready.
As for where to stay. Stay at the big casinos. The Grand Sierra, the Atlantis, the Peppermill or the Nugget in Sparks on Victorian is another hot spot.
A lot of vehicles left in those parking lots at night with 24 hour security..

My dad, brother and I go every year. Its a great time. If you stay at a bigger hotel its super safe. They have guards and special places to park with good lighting.

There are tons of police around downtown. I have been down there when Hot August Nights is not going on and its a different story.

Good hotels downtown are Silver Legacy, Eldorado, Circus Circus is OK but right on the street downtown.

Away from downtown Peppermill, Grand Sierra, Atlantis are the main ones.

Thank you for the reply. That's some great info.

We have been going for 15 years or so and stayed at quite a few of them. The ones on the strip are more but it is nice to finish cruising and head upstairs.

Circus Circus seems to be the most reasonably priced on the strip.

We have stayed at the Sands a couple times but its not the classiest place. People sometimes raise eyebrows at it but I have never heard of one problem there and its two blocks from all the action. Their main lot is well lit with only classics allowed and guards all night.

Cruising is also in Sparks with an In-N-Out (big deal for us since there aren't any here)

Summit racing store has like 10% off sale during that week also.

If you have a registered car you can get into to any show at the bigger hotels each day.

I'll look into sands. It would be nice to super close by all the action.
One of my major concerns was the security of the cars. That's another reason I was looking I to getting a Airbnb. Just so I can park my car in a garage or in a drive way that I can block with another car.

I know theirs two places that are having shows. Reno and Virginia City. But I'm assuming Reno sparks is the place to be right?

I would say yes those are the place to be, but if it interests you, sometimes its best to check it out for yourself.

I don't mean to go on and on about it. If you have questions I'll do my best to help. It is 6 months away after all, but you are wise to do some planning this early.

Looks like you have an 8 passenger wagon? That is what I am looking for right now. You don't run across them very often.

I'm super excited to go to the show. It's been on my bucket list the last 3 years to drive my wagon over there. And this year looks like it's the year to do it.

It took me 9 years to finish my wagon. I built it to be able to drive everywhere. So what better way to do my second long trip than to Reno.
My first long trip will be to ls fest west in may.
